Since “The Cathedral and the Bazaar” (ISBN 1-565-92724-9) to this day over 15 years have passed. Eric Raymond left us with numerous lessons on open source development (amongst other things). But this is a world of technology, and in it 15 years is an eternity. Many things have changed. Did the way we do open source also change?
Over 2 years ago Mapa76 was started at a Hackathon celebrated in Tecnópolis and organized by Hacks/Hackers BA. Several ideas went by, many people and above all a lot of source code was put into this project. It is waiting its final touches. This talk will give you my personal experience on developing an open source project, and invites a debate about free software today, using Raymond’s legacy as a guide.
